Newport is rich in history all the way back to 1600's. The Newport Preservation Society was formed to preserve many of the Gilded Age mansions. Many of these "summer cottages" were built in the late 1800's early 1900's as the summer homes for the most wealthy families at that time. Go online and get tickets and take a tour and learn about how people lived in those days. These Mansions are featured in the new HBO series "The Gilded Age"

A short distance away at Third Beach is our recently restored salt marsh habitat, a new birding "hotspot" and a favorite of birders and non-birders alike. In addition, Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge is renowned for its fantastic saltwater fishing, and has an active night fishing permit system.

Price drew inspiration from the Florentine Renaissance to create an iconic two-story edifice defined by broad arched windows and a roofline distinguished by polychromed terra-cotta ornament, crowned with a roof balustrade with lion finials. The first floor was originally designed to feature six retail shops and the second floor accommodated eleven offices. The end of September is Motor Week.
