The official opening of the museum was in 1964, but the foundation was laid in 1963 at the opening of E10 (King Olavs V vei). As one of the pioneers in investing in tourism in Lofoten, the blacksmith Hans Gjertsen carried out the market stunt of his life during the opening ceremony. He literally made his way to King Olav V through the crowd to hand over his work of art, the cormorant. Hans had asked in advance for permission but was refused by the organizer. The king, on the other hand, was very curious about this voice that resounded over the crowd with the words "Excuse me, King! Can I hand you a cormorant? ” The rest is history.

The trip started with a few hundred meters of asphalt to the start of the trail. The path starts in a huge stone clock where arrows are drawn on the stones. After the largest stone wall has been completed, the path turns towards Heiavatnet at 189 masl. Then the route continues up towards Festvågstinden's northeast ridge on grass and heather. From here it is a short walk to the top. The trip is 541 meters high, is done in only 1.3 kilometers after the trail and then you realize that it is steep all the way. From the top you can enjoy a fantastic view and the picture with the trigger point with Henningsvær is probably one of the most frequently used pictures from Lofoten on Instagram?

Turen startet med noen hundre meter asfalt til stistarten. Stien starter i en enorm steinur der det er tegnet piler på steinene. Etter at den største steinura er gjennomført dreier stien mot Heiavatnet på 189 moh. Deretter fortsetter ruten
opp mot Festvågstindens nordøstrygg på gress og lyng. Herfra er det en en liten spasertur til toppen.
Turen er på 541 høydemeter er unnagjort på bare 1,3 kilometer etter sti og da skjønner man at det er bratt hele veien.
Fra toppen kan man nyte en fantastisk utsikt og bildet med trigpunktet med Henningsvær er vel en av de hyppigst brukte bildene fra Lofoten på Instagram?

The trip started with a few hundred meters of asphalt to the start of the trail. The path starts in a huge stone clock where arrows are drawn on the stones. After the largest stone wall has been completed, the path turns towards Heiavatnet at 189 masl. Then the route continues up towards Festvågstinden's northeast ridge on grass and heather. From here it is a short walk to the top. The trip is 541 meters high, is done in only 1.3 kilometers after the trail and then you realize that it is steep all the way. From the top you can enjoy a fantastic view and the picture with the trigger point with Henningsvær is probably one of the most frequently used pictures from Lofoten on Instagram?
