Joanne’s beach house is truly an Airbnb, not just a vacation rental. This is one of those houses where you immediately feel at home and comfortable in and everything you could possibly need is there. The view is lovely and location is convenient but what makes this place truly special is the host. Joanne was extremely kind and friendly. We felt genuinely cared for during our stay. Our family of four along with our dog Charlie made so many great memories here. We love Manzanita area and this was a great base. Easy walk to beach and to town from the beach. We all slept soundly and made good use of the pool table, DVD collection and the fireplace. I loved having my morning coffee on the deck and taking in the birdsong. We cooked many meals and had all we needed in the kitchen. Joanne spoiled us with local coffee and chocolate as well. We will definitely be back!

We booked both houses for a family reunion of three generations. It was the perfect place for us all to have conversations, make big dinners, play games, and relax. There was plenty of dish ware, glasses, and silverware. Kitchen was well stocked and roomy for making large meals for our group. The hosts were very responsive and helpful. We had a last minute addition to our group so we had 17 total people, plus dogs. When I called the host, she was very friendly and accommodating to our request. The location is excellent! We all fell in love with the quaint and charming town of Manzanita. The walk to the beach was just a couple minutes. Everyone had a blast and felt very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again, and highly recommend Sanctuary in the Shire to others.

What a beautiful house and lovely hosts! We had the most peaceful getaway at this home. The sound of the river is so calming. We had so much fun by the fire pit, in the game room, in the hot tub, and walking the trails. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need and more. Plenty of fire fixings are provided. The beds, pillows and linens are all comfy cozy. Loved all the thoughtful details, for humans and dogs!

This is the second time we have rented form Marv. It’s a great location and lots of room to spend time with family.

My stay at John’s home in Chehalis, WA was magical. Nestled on a serene horse ranch, we were greeted by two beautiful horses that set the tone for an enchanting visit. The home was spacious, thoughtfully designed, and full of luxurious touches—like a fully stocked kitchen, cozy den with sunset views, and a dreamy patio with a fire pit. I loved watching the horses wander nearby and birds splash in the fountain each morning. The amenities were next-level: a whirlpool tub, sauna, and even a bedsheet air pump that kept the bed cool—so unique! John was an amazing host, and the home was spotless and smelled incredible. If you’re seeking beauty, comfort, and peace, this place is a true gem. The photos don’t do it justice. I’m already counting the days until I return.

Bryan was a wonderful host. Very attentive and helpful. The house was everything we imagined and more. Clean and with plenty of amenities. And the beds were heavenly. Our kids loved the variety of activities at the house, especially the hot tub and large yard for playing football. We hit some of the recommended sites and places Bryan provided us and they did not disappoint. Wanda’s was a favorite and we explored Cannon Beach for the first time. Cute costal town. Would love to come back and enjoy a longer stay.

Our stay at the cedar house in Riverbend Orchard was peaceful and memorable. The home is beautifully crafted with a cozy, welcoming feel, and the setting couldn’t be more perfect—quiet, scenic, and a great place to unwind. What really stood out was the hospitality. Val was so kind and thoughtful during our checkout, and Jason was a fantastic co-host—supportive, responsive, and made sure everything went smoothly from the start. We left feeling refreshed and well taken care of. We’d absolutely love to stay here again.
