One of the oldest hawker centres in Singapore, Pek Kio market has great local fare that is unbelievably cheap. Be sure to also visit the traditional 'wet market' selling fresh produce.

Great place for local food. Some stores have been here for decades. Not many foreigners come here. My personal favourites: big prawn noodles; chee cheong fun; $2.50 fried rice.
