Whether you are looking to take a hike or just get a nice dose of nature, Purgatory Chasm is the perfect place for both. Parking does cost something, right now it's $5 for Massachusetts residents and $6 for non-residents, but check out their website to make sure nothing has changed.

One of the most "wild" feeling spots around, for this part of New England. Worth the 30-45 minute drive. Really nice walk. Rugged as a walk. Easy as a hike, for west coasters. I think its $10 parking per car if you park in their designated spot, for non-MA license plate holders.
