The 10-km Schlösserwanderweg (castle hiking trail) begins in the sparsely-populated Neunhof with its 3 castles you can get a good view of from the St. John's church (Johanniskirche). From there you walk along Nuschelberg to Hallerschlösschen, a small castle. Follow the yellow markers towards Günthersbühl, then in the direction of Behringersdorf and turn right at the end of the village at the blue cross marker to the Castle Oedenberg. From Oedenberg follow the green cross marker towards Simmelberg (smallest and nicest fishery in Franconia) and across the field towards Tauchersreuth to get a beautiful view of the Eckental countryside. At the yellow cross marking at the end of town you'll pass an old ski lift as you head downhill toward the Beerbacher Church St. Egidien. Take the red dot marked path across the Kirchenweg (Church Way) past the Nikolausquelle (Nicolaus Springs) back to Neunhof where a refreshing beer and Franconian food awaits you at the Brauerei-Gasthof (Brewery Restaurant).
