Arriving in October, monarch butterflies cluster together on pine, cypress and eucalyptus trees in the Sanctuary. Because of this unique migration, Pacific Grove is nicknamed "Butterfly Town, U.S.A." The best time to see the Monarchs is in November and December, but some will stay as late as March…

Visit the Monarch Grove Sanctuary to see clusters of butterflies clinging to the trees. You will probably also see deer walking in the sanctuary. The butterflies are here from about mid-October to mid-February.

Pacific Grove is known for a lot of things but Monarch Butterflies is certainly one of them. Check out the sanctuary if you have the time!
