Our mountain sanctuary

Come relax and play in the great outdoors. Our area is abundant with lakes, rivers, waterfalls and hiking (the Appalachian trail is just a mile away). Our rustic cabin is built from 1875 hand hewn logs and is located on Spivey Creek in Unicoi County Tennessee. The towns of Erwin TN and Burnsville NC are just down the mountain for shopping convenience. For the arts, entertainment and airport convenience Asheville NC and Johnson City TN are less than an hour away. Come stay in our lovely cabin.

The Cottage

Keep it simple at this peaceful and centrally-located one bedroom cottage that is easily walkable to downtown Burnsville. This tiny home is perfect for a weekend getaway to explore the quaint small town of Burnsville and the beautiful mountains of Western NC. Nearby Mount Mitchell and the Blue Ridge Parkway offer scenic drives, hiking trails, mountain stream fishing, and picnic areas. The cottage is conveniently located to Spruce Pine, Mars Hill, Wolf Laurel, Weaverville, and Asheville.

Bauer Ridge Treehouse

Our Treehouse-like stilted cottage is perched on the mountainside surrounded by trees. Blue Ridge Mountain view offers a unique experience. Private deck with bathtub (usable in warm weather over 60°F/15°C). This house has an electric fireplace to warm up & AC to cool down. Full kitchen has stainless steel appliances. Bathroom has a walk-in tiled shower and heated towel rack. Upstairs bedroom has mountain views from the queen bed. A tranquil space in which to rejuvenate. Dog friendly!

The guesthouse sits up the hill from the glass shop, pottery studio, and our home. This house is clean, modern, cozy, and bright. It has a spectacular view of the Black Mountains from the generous porch. It is a Green Built and Energy Star certified home. Visitors are welcome to shop our showroom and visit/tour our studios by appointment. We are less than 4 miles from Penland School of Craft, and 30 minutes to Roan Mountain and Blue Ridge Parkway hikes.

Welcome to Outlanders, a cozy mountain home centrally located in historic Burnsville NC. Burnsville is sandwiched between Asheville, Blue Ridge Parkway, Mount Mitchell and many hiking trails. The home is walking distance to the downtown areas' brewery, artists, restaurants, shops and Saturday morning farmer's market (1 to 3 blocks). While at home enjoy the private and secluded back porch, hot tub and/or the outdoor fire pit.
