We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great place to visit with a busy toddler. Our daughter loved wandering around the grounds and seeing the cows, plus they brought her some toys to play with - what a spoil. We would love to be back.

Linda is such an amazing host, she was so helpful and responsive to questions that we had for her. Her home is perfectly positioned in front of the most beautiful Drakensburg mountains. Last but not least her home is clean and beautiful, we will definitely be going back soon.

Peaceful, Simple Living with Soul Barn Owl Cottage is a little slice of heaven—peaceful, beautiful, and full of heart. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Berg, it offers the kind of quiet and simplicity that’s hard to come by. Evenings by the fire are a highlight—warm, cozy, and perfect for unwinding under a sky full of stars. The nights are so still you can almost hear the silence, and mornings bring soft light, sunrise, and that endless view of the mountains. The cottage itself is simple, stylish, and thoughtfully put together—everything you need and nothing you don’t. Emma is a warm and welcoming host, and the entire place radiates calm. This is slow, soulful living at its best. We didn’t want to leave—and can’t wait to come back.

We absolutely loved our stay! The setting is incredibly peaceful, with breathtaking views of the river and mountains. Whether we were relaxing on the day bed or simply soaking in the natural beauty, every moment felt special. Our children had an amazing time making the fire for the hot tub, chopping wood, and swimming in the river—it was the perfect outdoor adventure for them! The tented camp itself is beautifully designed inside and out, blending comfort with nature effortlessly. This was truly a magical escape, and we can’t wait to come back! Highly recommended.

The place was absolutely amazing. It was a well needed getaway. It’s perfect for anyone who’s looking for a break from the busy world. It’s the perfect place to relax, unwind and take in how beautiful nature is. The hosts are super helpful.

So thrilled we had a chance to stay here - such a beautiful place, so quiet, with the most wonderful view of the woods, a river, and lake in the distance. Pauline is a fabulous host - her communication was excellent and although the cabin is really off the beaten path, her directions were perfect. She couldn't have been more helpful and we spent a blissful weekend there. No wonder it's hard to book here and it's a super popular place to hire. Long to return.

This was our fourth trip to the Drakensberg, having previously stayed at another Airbnb and a well-known lodge near Helen's place. Without a doubt, this was our best experience yet. The location strikes a perfect balance. It's conveniently close to the attractions of Champagne Valley – think chocolate and great hikes – while still offering wonderful peace and quiet. And those mountain views are truly something special. The accommodation itself is excellent. The two bedrooms are very spacious, each with its own bathroom and wonderfully large beds. We appreciated the blankets, heater, and the well-equipped kitchen with its large fridge. Having full DSTV and reliable Wi-Fi was a bonus for downtime, and the Weber was perfect for braais. The place is nicely furnished and genuinely feels like a comfortable home. Dealing with Helen was effortless. Extending our stay by an extra night was handled with no trouble at all. A definite 10/10, and we'll certainly be returning!
