  • Laurie gave us a listing of things to do in the area, where to find everything around the house, and contact information in case we needed something. The house was very comfortable and well stocked. There was plenty of room for me, my daughter and son-in-law, and their 3 kids to hang out and play, even on the rainy day. We loved that it is close to many wonderful places in Michigan. We truly wished we could have stayed for more than 3 nights. We took advantage of the provided kayaks, and 4 of us (plus the dog) got to go out kayaking for the first time. It was wonderful! The lake is small enough to stay in the area of the house, yet since it is on a chain of lakes, we could explore greater distances. We are so happy that we found this place on Airbnb. We booked it for Sep during the winter months, and I so enjoyed being able to pull up the listing and dream about staying there. I slept on the futon in the dining room area, and it was wonderfully comfortable. Perfect for me! My daughter and son-in-law had the master bedroom, with a wonderful view of the lake out of their slider out to their deck. The kiddos loved the 2 bunk beds, and all of the wonderful toys stored underneath! And my granddog truly enjoyed swimming in the lake and relaxing on the lawn. We left feeling very refreshed and amazed at having found such a perfect place to stay. Thank you Laurie, John, and Josh, for opening up your home to us!!!

  • Laurie was very throughout and responsive and had any information you may need. Great host

  • This was such a great house! We were welcomed to a nice clean house with such an excellent view! I honestly loved everything about it. We were centrally located between a lot of nice little towns, and only a drive away from Traverse City. In fact we enjoyed Traverse City, Mackinaw City, Petoskey, and Belleaire while staying on this trip. The house was very warm and inviting. It felt like home! Communication with Laurie was amazing! She always made sure everything was going well for us, and was even inviting for our little Beagle to join us as well. All of us had a great time up there, and couldn't ask for anything more. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

  • We spent a great week at the Hanley Lake Hideaway with our two boys. Perfect location for our trip. We visited Sleeping Bear Dunes, Traverse City, Torch Lake, Barnes Park, Charlevoix and Mackinac Island. Not to mention all the great little towns surrounding us. Bellaire was our favorite. We also just hung out at the house playing games and kayaking on the lake. It was a fantastic trip! Great experience with the owners as well.

  • Great location for traveling northwest MI. Trips to Traverse City, Charlevoix, Petosky all within easy striking distance. Laurie's place is clean and well stocked and on a quiet lake. Enjoyed the stay!

    Wayne2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks Laurie --- we had an awesome stay at your place. The "boys" had an enjoyable weekend of fishing and relaxing in the Central Lake establishments. Your place offers plenty of space which is clean and filled with everything we needed to relax and enjoy the greater outdoors!

    Steven2018-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at Laurie's. Great location, beautiful lake view, easy to find, and Laurie is very responsive. Would definitely recommend to friends!

  • Laurie’s place was in an amazing location. The view of the lake was incredible and the cabin is stocked with everything you might need. It is extremely cozy and comfortable. Our pups also loved it! Tip: Our four wheel drive vehicle came in handy as well because we got 2 feet of snow during our stay! We will be back!

PLEASE NOTE: 2019 summer schedule is posted. Summer minimum is 7 nights. The Giddings Little Cottage is a one-room (+ bedroom/bath) summer family cottage that was built in the 1950's. It is funky and rustic with simple decor, but it is ON THE WATER! So please do not book it if you are expecting a hotel experience. It is on the west side of our Torch Lake property, which has a beautiful, sandy, gradual beach clear to the bottom and is ideal for kids and for swimming, paddling and boating.
The Little Cottage is one of our two simple, rustic summer cottages located on 150+ feet of pristine Torch Lake sandy beach. Torch is a gorgeous spring-fed lake that reflects colors of green, blue, and indigo. It has been called the Caribbean Sea of Michigan. Our OTHER cottage, the "Big Cottage", is on the east side of the property about 25 feet away (see pics). The cottages are separated by a grassy area with young trees. See our other AirBnb listing ( https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/20412965 ) if you are interested in renting both cottages together. Note that although the cottage sleeps 5, it is a tight space if all 5 are adults. The Little Cottage is best suited for a family. There is one double bed in the bedroom, and in the living room/kitchen/entry room area there is a futon couch and a fold-out single bed. There is private grassy area next to the cottage on the west side where tents can be set up for more room.
The address is Kewadin but we are closest to Eastport, MI. Eastport is a very small (read: crossroads) lake town that is located halfway in between the beautiful cities of Traverse City and Charlevoix on US 31. It does have a campground 'Barnes Park' with a public beach on Lake Michigan nearby; a great restaurant 'Torch Lake Cafe' with live music; a public boat launch/beach; a full service grocery store with a full hardware section called 'Eastport Market', and a post office all within 1/2 mile of the cottage. There is a laundromat 10 minutes away in Central Lake, the next town over. There is also the famous Short's Microbrewery located about 15 miles away in Bellaire, MI.
  • What a treasure! We enjoyed our weekend on Torch very much and I’d go back in a heartbeat (with or without my kids!). Nearby market had all the basics we needed. Torch Lake Cafe has a delicious breakfast (not open for breakfast on weekdays though). The Lake Michigan beach at the campground across the way, as well as the public beach access just south on 31 was gorgeous and a rockhound’s heaven. We enjoyed an easy, 20 min drive into Charlevoix one of the days and a another 20-min. drive into Bellaire the next day that was beautiful and lined with blossoming cherry orchards. The little cottage is close to the big cottage, but not enough to make anything awkward— there was a brand new grill and a fire pit for each cottage so we had our own space. Comfy bed, super clean cottage, well equipped kitchen, and hot water! I’d love to return when it’s warmer to enjoy the kayaks and swimming. Thanks for a beautiful getaway!

  • I just came back from a beautiful weekend trip to the small cottage on Torch Lake with my husband and our dog. We went on the second week of May so the weather was still a bit chilly but we had clear skies all weekend which made the colors of the lake look gorgeous! The view from the cottage is just amazing. The cottage is very rustic but it was clean and the bed was very comfortable. There were plenty of clean towels and linens, and the kitchen was fully stocked. We were worried we would be cold at night because it was going to drop to the low 30s but there were a few portable heaters that kept the cottage very warm. They had a couple of kayaks, a canoe, a rowboat, and a dinghy for us to use. We went canoeing early one morning with our dog and she loved swimming around the lake. We went to some of the locations the host's recommended on their listing like Short's Brewery and the Dockside restaurant and they had really good food and drinks. Also Barnes Park is just 2 minutes down the road and they have a beach on Lake Michigan where you can catch a great view of the sunset. This cottage is definitely a place we will be coming back to in the future.

  • With amazing views of the lake&wildlife just steps from the cottage, waking up early for the sunrise is so easy&totally worth it! Kids&I enjoyed spending time on the water in the boat, canoe, kayaks&swimming daily. Everything you need for a stay away from home is right here, there was even a cake pan in the cupboard which made my kiddos birthday away from home so special! The big cottage is close &as long as the renters there are respectful of the shared outside space, there shouldn't be any issues. But if there are young partiers blasting music outside all day, the noise can be bothersome (even inside with the windows closed). Regardless, this property is beautiful&totally worth the price! I'm very glad I brought my daughter's here for a vacation on gorgeous torch lake! There are many attractions to visit within reasonable driving distances. We found a great place to trail ride horses, zip line, hike, beach comb, dine out and even thrifting at various second hands stores-all within an hour's drive from the cottage.

  • This location is right on a crystal clear part of the lake, with nice shoreline and fire pit by the lake. The cottage is rustic and small, but cozy. It was a little cold out but the lake was still great for a swim. The setting is quiet, calm and peaceful with many stars in the sky at night. I enjoyed my short stay and felt refreshed at the end of it. It is not a far drive to Traverse City or Sleeping Bear Dunes. There is a nice small town which is a brief drive away known as Bellaire (home of Shorts Brewery). It is fun for a day trip. I was traveling alone for this brief getaway and there was a nice group of people staying in the cottage next to me. I enjoyed meeting/talking with them at the fire pit. I was a little confused upon arrival as I needed to check myself in (the cottage was left open for me), but I booked this trip last minute on the fly. You will need to wash any of the towels (or sheets) from this cottage that you use at a local laundromat so bring your own if you don’t want to do that....there is a nice little restaurant down the street from the laundromat though. There appeared to be some basic renovating in process outside (possibly because it is Autumn). To summarize, it was a relaxing getaway!

  • Melissa has a little slice of heaven up in Kewadin. We spent a long weekend in the small cottage on the property and found everything to be just as promised. Melissa is incredibly friendly and easy to work with. Everything was clean and cozy and the property is gorgeous. Whether you visit Torch Lake often or are a first time traveler, I highly recommend Melissa's cottage for your stay. We loved looking out on the calm/clear waters during the day and our nightly bonfires on the shore in the evening. The cottage is about 45 minutes from Traverse City (which was a fun day trip) and the Traverse Bay/Lake Michigan is literally right across the road which was fun to explore. We were able to cook our own meals using the full kitchen and felt like we had plenty of room for the two of us. Thank you, Melissa - We look forward to coming and staying with you again next summer!

    Justin2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to get away from it all. Enjoyed making a fire and fixing smores! Nice to use kayaks too! One bedroom with comfy bed. Futon in Livingroom area was ok for daughter. Kitchen was stocked well with necessities to cook. Awesome to have the view of Torch lake and dock to use. At the time it was too cold to swim but would love to return too next summer! Only concern would be that there is another cottage on the property that you would share the yard, beach, and dock with other renters.

    Laurie2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time on the magnificent Torch Lake! Well equipped for a relaxing and serene getaway. The vintage lake house had everything we needed.

    Jenae2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had an AMAZING stay in this cozy little cabin steps away from the sandy shoreline on turquoise waters of Torch Lake. Melissa was so easily accessible when we needed to extend our stay (multiple times, we loved it so much!) and responded so quickly to all of our questions. One of the great features was the sandy shoreline with a shallow gradual incline that would be very safe and perfect for all ages and warm for swimming. There is a picturesque long dock where you can sit at night and see every star in the sky and sometimes even the Northern Lights. The cabin was vintage and rustic, so cute! Kayaks and canoes were provided. Internet connection was perfect and there is a smart TV that allowed watching YouTube and regular channels. The cabin was very close to the water and we could hear the waves coming in at night. There was a nice fire pit. It is very quiet and secluded on this side of the lake. Lake Michigan is right across the road and there is a Torch Lake Nature Preserve where we found numerous Petoskey stones and other fossils along the beautiful beach with breathtaking sunsets. There are hiking trails in unique dune ecosystems at the preserve. The grocery store and restaurant is almost in walking distance even though you feel like you are in the wilderness. There is a lot to do in the area and sometimes you forget you are in Michigan, it feels like the ocean, minus all of the disadvantages of saltwater (I would prefer to come here!). Traverse City is a half hour drive away where you can visit wineries, explore nightlife, the casino, and much more. You can also visit the Sleeping Bear Dunes and a unique old-growth forest, Hartwick Pines, gives you a glimpse of Michigan before settlement. You MUST visit the famous sandbar which is a short drive away and accessible via public beach. My mom and I want to thank Melissa for the great memories. We will definitely return many times in the future. I am not exaggerating when I say this is one of the greatest vacations I have ever had and maybe the most beautiful place I have ever visited and I have traveled a lot. Don’t miss out on this adorable cabin for an affordable price! Thanks Melissa!

Recently renovated, this charming 2 bedroom, 1 bath apartment above a retail business has been renovated to feature all of the amenities of home! Full kitchen, laundry, TV with streaming Internet like Netflix and HULU & free Wifi. The master bedroom has a Queen size bed, 2nd bedroom has bunk beds and the living room has futon. For the ghost enthusiast or skeptic, we have had the space cleansed so only friendly spirits remain or may visit. Check in is at 3pm and check out is at 10am.
The location is in downtown Central Lake. 1 block to the park that has a playground and boat rentals. Stroll down the street for Moomers Ice Cream, dine at The Blue Pelican or stop by the Tiki Bar for a cold beverage! Mammouth Distillery opened in 2016, and has a great environment and top notch spirits and cocktails! The BEST grocery store in the world is next door so you can cook anything you'd like in the full kitchen! We also have a grill outside!
I love that this location is right downtown. Everything you need is right there, and everyone in town is friendly! The apartment is very private, with curtains in the living room. 5 mins to Torch Lake, 8 mins to Lake Michigan, and a block away from Intermediate Lake which is in the upper Chain of Lakes! Bellaire is only 15 mins away, the home of Shorts Brewry.
  • This place is so cool. Very comfortable and nicely decorated. Bring food and cook or eat at one of the terrific restaurants nearby. The building is located right in town and you get to feel like a local. The town is so chill and you're a short walk to the chain of lake access. Rent a kayak down the street and enjoy the river, it is amazing.

  • Plenty of space for our family of four (including two teenage girls). We really enjoyed being right in the center of Central Lake, walking distance to the library & used book store, Intermediate Lake, and the local ice cream and distillery. Central Lake is equidistant to Petoskey and Traverse City, so day trips to those areas are a great draw, and the scenery in the surrounding area around Torch Lake, Bellaire, and elsewhere is fantastic. The apartment is very nice, located in the upstairs of an old downtown store, and has been well-updated. Kelly was very responsive to all inquiries. Would stay here again for a repeat visit to Central Lake.

    Angie2018-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Kelly's place was clean and nicely remodeled. It is just around the corner from Couple of nice restaurants and just minutes from Torch Lake!

    Christy2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • It's a nicely decorated place. Super clean and met all my expectations! We had such a great time here. Easy check in and check out.

  • Kelly and Kevin were very welcoming. Kelly was very communicative and offered information and tips even prior to our arrival. Their property is a gem: a historic building that is newly remodeled on the inside. We were in Northern Michigan for a ski trip at Schuss Mountain but also wanted to explore nearby towns. This property in Central Lake was at the perfect location. Strongly recommended.

    Dunja2016-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Kelly was very helpful, welcome book was very nice to have. Modern updates were nice. Hope we can make it back this way again sometime.

    Nathan2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great experience with Kelly! She was very responsive, kind and accommodating! Torch Lake was beautiful and the loft was the perfect location next to the grocery store and Blue Pelican restaurant, all in walking distance. Moomer’s ice cream was delicious too! We would definitely recommend the host, loft and area.

  • Lezlie was an amazing host! Very kind and helpful. We had gotten ourselves into a bit of a travel situation and she was very patient to help us through it

    Marina2018-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome space with just enough room! Highly recommend!

    Sara2018-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful stay! This was our first time staying at an Airbnb and it surpassed our expectations! Lezlie was such a great host and made us feel very welcomed when we arrived. She always responded to us quickly and went above and beyond to answer all our touristy questions. The location was perfect and close to the Torch Lake Sandbar and Charlevoix. It was also a 2 min drive from some pretty amazing views of Lake Michigan. We can’t wait to go back! ☀️

  • Cute, small place with great access to both Torch Lake and Lake Michigan.

    Cindy2018-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • The Shoolhouse at Torch Lake is one of those properties that is so special that you don't want others to know about so you can keep it all for yourself! The apartment is small but doesn't lack anything needed for comfort and practicality, it is a wonderful value and the location is priceless. Lezlie is self admittedly particular and it shows in the thoughtfulness and detail of her property. We enjoyed talking with both Lezlie and Glen and they provided some excellent tips for the area regarding dining, boating and sightseeing. We felt very comfortable and safe during our stay at the Schoolhouse, it was a 5 star experience! Our only regret is that weren't able to stay longer!

    Mary2018-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lezlie's guesthouse was very cute and comfortable. The location is beautiful and we had a very nice stay!

    Anne2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lezlie’s place was very cute and private. We relaxed all weekend.

    Debra2018-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a great airbnb! Lezlie was very good at communicating and check-in/check-out was very simple and easy. The place itself was also great. Big comfortable bed, kitchen with all the utensils and appliances one would need for a weekend up North. We really enjoyed staying at Lezlie's place!

You'll be staying on a centennial farm that is still in operation today. You'll find Cattle, Cherries, Corn, Grapes and Soybeans. You'll have access to over 1000 acres where you can feel free to walk, ride your bike, snowshoe, or cross country ski. YES, we do allow pets! :-) No ATV/Snowmobiles please...
Original with the farm, the 100 year old house has been redone specifically for the farm experience. You can interact with the five full time farmers on the premises if you choose, or sit on the deck and watch the cherries blossom with Lake Michigan in the background. You'll be less than 10 minutes away from boat launches at Torch Lake, Lake Michigan and Intermediate Lake, so make sure to bring the boat, there is plenty of parking available. If you're a land dweller, Shorts Brewery is a 15 minute trip, and if wine is your thing, there's 100's of wineries within an hour trip, north or south. Mammoth Distillery (which uses our cherries in their cherry bounce) is a 10 minute drive located in the heart of Central Lake. Ethanology which we supply corn for their whiskey and cherries is located 20 minutes away in downtown Elk Rapids. You'll have access to the apartment portion of the house in which we have redone. We are currently in the process of renovating the other half to accommodate larger families. You will have a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen area (without oven, but with stove top and microwave) large living space, large deck and a newly added fire pit in the yard. There are stairs to climb to access the house and there are smells, sounds and sights that happen on this farm that are beyond our control. ***** If you stay for two or more nights we will include two steaks, T-bone, rib, porterhouse or sirloin from our farm!! There is a grill accessible on the deck to enjoy them as well.
Some of us do not even lock our doors at night... Peaceful, calming and a great place to recharge the batteries.
  • A great find! We traveled up to central lake to explore the lakes. What a great stay. At the end of the day we were excited to return to the house to wind down and cook dinner. The place had amazing views. Everyone we met was so nice and so helpful. They are willing to give you tips on places to go which was very helpful. The kids loved spending time on the farm feeding the cows, picking cherries, building the fire, and just roaming. The place was sparkling clean and had everything we needed. We just wish we had more time! Was a wonderful place to stay!

    Megan2018-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • This place is one of a kind. In the winter, cozy, quiet and serene. Beautiful view. Nice homey touches throughout and very accommodating hosts.

  • The Shooks are absolutely awesome people! A hard working, patriotic family that made us feel at home the moment we arrived. Their place was sparkling clean with lots of thoughtful touches, comfortable space, and has a beautiful view of their farm especially at sunset! When we arrived, there were two porterhouse steaks in the fridge waiting to be grilled and they were AMAZING! We had the blessing of staying durning cherry season and their cherries were the best we’ve ever tasted! Over all, it’s a GREAT place to stay if your looking to get away on an outdoorsy vacation!

  • The hosts were phenomenal and extremely helpful. The picture DO NOT do this place justice. We could only stay one night and wish we had more time to enjoy our surroundings. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

  • We had an incredible weekend away from the city. The place was clean, quiet, and relaxing. We brought our dog who loved exploring the land. We used the fire pit for s’mores, and enjoyed the view. We walked around town and loved mammoth distillery. We will be back this summer! Highly recommend!

  • Beautiful property, great hospitality. We moved it!

    Jessica2018-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great place to stay! The location is peaceful & private & the home offered everything we needed for a relaxing NYE weekend with our pups. The owners worked so hard to ensure it was ready for us with heavy snowfall which we so appreciated. I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone who is looking to “check-out,” the gorgeous view was so relaxing! Plus great local hot spots are just a quick trip away including shorts brewing, Shopping & schuss mountain. Would definitely stay here again!

  • Let me start by saying that the location is spectacular. Sandwiched on a quiet country road on a hill between Elk Rapids and Charlevoix (just north of Torch Lake), this location is perfect. You can see Grand Traverse Bay and the sunset off the deck of the house. The house is an older farm house, but the rented portion on the west side has been remodeled and is clean and comfortable. It is a working cattle farm so there is a farm odor in the air occasionally, but it didn't bother us a bit. In fact, it was a welcome change from the city air that we needed a break from! Our kids really enjoyed being able to feed grass to the cattle. It's also a U-Pick cherry orchard and the cherries happened to be in season! Rob was also kind enough to share the location of a quiet, locals beach where we went for a sunset walk and found some petoskey stones only about 10 minutes from the house. We had no issues with the home whatsoever and really enjoyed our stay surrounded by deer, cherry trees and a little bit of country living. We took some great family photos in the orchards which turned out great. If you're lucky enough to catch Daryl at the farm with his Model A wagon, he might even be willing to take you around the orchard for a tour (Thanks Daryl!) The lodging included 2 steaks (you choice of cut) which were delicious. We will definitely be looking for another opportunity to return soon as this was an unexpected highlight of our 2018 MI summer vacation. The Shooks Family were great hosts and I can't say enough good about our time spent with them on their farm.

PLEASE NOTE: 2019 summer schedule is posted. Summer minimum is 7 nights. The Giddings "Big Cottage" is one of our two vintage family cottages on Torch. It was built in the 1930's. It is fairly funky and rustic, so please do not book if you are looking for a hotel experience. But it is ON THE WATER. The beautiful, sandy, gradual beach is right in front of the cottage. The water is shallow, gradual, clear to the bottom and ideal for kids. It is great for swimming, paddling, and boating.
Our property has over 150 feet of pristine sandy Torch Lake beach. Torch is a gorgeous spring-fed lake with beautiful green, blue, and indigo water. It is known as Michigan's "Caribbean Sea". The master bedroom and one of the bedrooms upstairs have beautiful lake views. The porch/living room area and the attached deck also have lake views. It is only 25 feet from the cottage deck to the beach across a grassy yard. PLEASE NOTE - This cottage is located on the east side of our property. There is a separate "Little Cottage" on the west side of the property. The cottages are about 25 feet apart separated by a grassy area and young trees (see pictures). For maximum privacy and if you want to rent the entire property, please inquire and see our other listing ( https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/20412380 ). We will give you an additional 15% discount for renting BOTH cottages.
There is also the Short's Microbrewery located about 15 miles away in Bellaire, MI. The famous Torch Lake sandbar is at the far southern end of the lake if you have a powerboat.
  • Great location on the beautiful Torch Lake. The hosts were great and very responsive. We came up to see the fall colors and enjoy the outdoors, and the cabin provides a much more relaxed experience than staying in a hotel. You do share the property with guests in a separate cabin. If both parties want to enjoy the fire at night or sit out on the dock, be prepared to get to know your neighbors!

    Sonya2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is really nice old cottage with spectacular views. Lake is right there and I am pretty sure at summer we would have more fun on the water. Weekend we stayed was pretty rainy and cold so we spent most of the time inside. We had great communication with our host and cottage had everything we needed.

    Oksana2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • You will not find a better priority for the price on Torch Lake. The water is amazing. The waterfront access is to die for. I will be back!

    Levi2018-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • True northern Michigan cottage, amazing views!

    Betsy2018-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of 4 with kids ages 10 and 12 had a wonderful stay at the Giddings Cottage. The beach/lake was gorgeous and much larger than many houses we have rented on Torch Lake. Our kids loved the kayaks there and roasting marshmallows in the fire pit at night.

    Traci2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • As stated in the description, this isn’t a modern, four-star resort. It more than makes up for it in its cozy charm and waterfront location. We were very comfortable as we enjoyed the kayaks and canoe left for our use by our hosts, and really lucked out with perfect weather each day. I’d recommend it for anyone looking to stay right on Torch Lake on a modest budget.

    Chris2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • You can't beat the massive shore line and beautiful view here!! Waters crystal clear and super shallow for a ways out( perfect for small kids!!) Woke up to find a ton of petosky stones on the beach each morning, which was a bonus!! Cottage is rustic and quaint. Perfect for a get away it has everything you need for a weekend escape! Melissa was great at communicating with us the whole time. Great place for families with kids for sure. Loved the kayaks and boat to adventure out on the water with- bring your own kid life jackets though! Will be back again for sure!!

    Johanna2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • The place was absolutely amazing. Affordable and close enough to a whole lot of cool things. Not to mention amazing water. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. I would definitely come back here. One of the best places I've rented on here so far. Even with the little cottage having guest there was plenty of privacy and room.

Bonafide custom built tiny house! All the comforts of home in this cabin chic tiny house. Featured in Tiny House Talk as a top spot for renting a tiny house on Airbnb! Ask about our Bodega Bus experience. If available, we could take your group out on a wine & beverage tour! You also have a private hot tub on your deck to unwind after a long day and great star gazing! There are two kayaks available for use.
While the Torch Lake Tiny house is not directly on the water, it is located just steps from Torch Lake. There is public access across the street for prime Sunset viewing. There are at least three beaches with one to five miles!
You'll be surrounded by trees and wildlife. Water recreation abounds. Close to: Bellaire & Shorts Brewery Torch Lake Cafe Torch Lake Cellars Mammoth Distillery King Orchards Bee Well Cider & Meadery Alden Traverse City is a 30-45 minute drive Charlevoix is a 20 minute drive Mackinac Island is 1-1/2-2 hour drive Sleeping Bear Dunes is 1-1/2 hour drive Shopping All this and MORE within a short drive.
  • We liked the tiny house. It's clean, full size stove and refrigerator, nice size shower and toilet. They have it nicely decorated with a hot tub on the deck. My only negative thing I can say is the television connection is Netflix nothing local or news. We could not watch anything in the bed in loft because of the wi-if being so weak. Another disappointing thing is we had no access close to walk to the lake where we could swim. All the homes are on the Lake so the only place to get access is at public accesses. We were disappointed about that. Deb and her hubby are kind and we saw very little of them so it's quite a private place with deer in the woods. It's an amazing little house.

  • Debbie and John's tiny home is a gem! For only being 200 square feet, this tiny home actually feels very spacious and has everything you would need for your stay. They are both very kind and easy to communicate with, welcoming, and accommodating. They had great recommendations of places to visit while we were in the area such as Torch Lake Cafe just a couple minutes down the road and of course Short's Brewery about 15 minutes away in Bellaire. The hot tub on the deck was wonderful and we also loved the outdoor bar, such a good idea! We felt very at home staying here and will be back for sure!

  • Debbie and John were great and the Tiny House was what we were looking for. They truly thought of everything!

    Jen2018-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • The Torch Lake Tiny House served as an excellent home base for our adventures of northern Michigan. The house was exactly as described. The community spaces were great and Debbie and John were very helpful answering our questions about the area and anything else we needed.

    Stephan2017-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and fun experience.

    Laura2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Debbie and her husband were very responsive and warm hosts. They were willing to answer all our tiny home living questions. While they were willing to talk and be friendly they also respected our privacy. They were also knowledgeable about the area. If your looking for the opportunity to have a tiny home experience a short distance to the lakes this is for you. If your looking for luxury and amenities it may not be. Overall it was a good experience and we enjoyed ourselves.

    Stacy2018-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • I could not recommend the tiny house any more. The stay was absolutely perfect. Debbie and John were amazing, and I would suggest asking them about the history of the Tiny Resort. The location was secluded, right off of Torch Lake, but close to shops and restaurants as well. The Tiny House is also just a few minutes from Lake Michigan. If you want a relaxing Michigan experience, I couldn't recommend the Tiny House any more.

    Jacob2017-09-12T00:00:00Z

Cozy sleeping for 2 in the "Sunshine" room of this Historic Country Inn in the quaint village of Central Lake. This room is one of 7 private rooms with a private bath in each room. The pastel-hued rooms outfitted with delicate quilts have a vintage vibe. Includes kitchenette and lounge area shared with other inn guests. We are located about 20 min from Shanty Creek Resorts, and about 35 min from Boyne Mountain Resort.
Located above the Blue Pelican Inn
  • My stay in the Sunshine Room at the Blue Pelican was very pleasant - clean, comfortable and very quiet. The bathroom was huge and light! There was no eating allowed in the rooms, but a common room at the end of the hall offered a place to sit and have complementary snacks and coffee. Board games and TV were also there as well as the opportunity to visit with fellow guests. A safe, clean, comfortable room with basic amenities = a good night’s sleep

    Tamara2018-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable place in a quiet little town, out of the way but still close to many great spots.

We loved the outdoor patio and bar where we could grill out and relax. Nice to have the kayaks for an afternoon on the beautiful lake across the street. Debbie and John were great hosts and clearly are passionate about their creations and the surrounding area. We appreciated the suggestions for things to do nearby. Would love to return!

  • You can expect FUN and a great time. Debbie and John were so nice. Wonderful common bar area set up outside, close walk to the water (no beach), but swimming was good (wear shoes), awesome comfortable bed and linens, two fire options -- real and propane style one. • This is a great summer destination. Waterfront property WITH toys for adults and kids alike: swoon. I wish it were warm enough to swim when we visited. The steam shower in the basement was brilliant, as was the views and tranquility of this property. The nearby town was also very charming and a great chance to explore. I also found a nearby yoga studio, Yoga North, to assure a daily practice.

  • My family and I stayed at Angela's lake house for 5 nights. Angela was eager to help, and quick to respond to all of our questions before and during our visit. We even had the chance to meet Angela and her wonderful family the day before our check in at the house, where they gave us a full tour and made sure we had everything we needed. There were 9 of us at “The Flying Fish”, with more than enough space to feel comfortable and at home. The place was just as described as, and even better than the photos. It feels like two houses in one, with a full bathroom on each floor, as well as a partial kitchen in the walkout lower level with full refrigerator… making it perfect for hosting guests during the day. The house was clean, spacious, with a big kitchen for cooking meals, and lots of seating on the wrap-around deck. The sunset views from the house took our breath away. The location is very secluded, with a dock right at the private beach. The beach is sandy without rocks, with just a few spots in the water a little soft (clay?). The water level was low during our stay… any larger-sized boat might have problems getting to the dock. Luckily we have two smaller boats and it worked out perfectly for us. There’s a convenient boat launch directly across the lake. Intermediate Lake is an “All Experience Level Boater” lake, without any surprises and with courteous boaters. They supplied kayaks which were perfect for sunrise paddles, and making quick trips over to the Corner grocery store (located north of the house next to the bridge). Just when you think it can’t get any more convenient, just open up the beach shed and you’ll find life jackets of all sizes, outdoor furniture, yard games, fishing gear, and even a propane tank to go with the BBQ. And don’t forget about the SUP board! On Saturdays, there's a farmers market in Central Lake. The main grocery store is a 5 min drive with everything to offer. And Bellaire, the home of Short’s Brewery, and some great golf courses, is a scenic 15 min drive away. Overall we had a wonderful experience and hope to be back.

  • The house, and the owner Cherie, were warm and inviting. She had the amenities we needed to feel right at home. It's one of the most comfortable sleeps I've had being away from home. We're looking forward to staying again in the future.

    Courtney2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • The guest house was great! We really enjoyed our time and Cherie is a wonderful host!

    Gabe2018-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Cherie’s place is very nice. If you’re looking for a place to get away and enjoy some peace and quiet, this is for you. Not a lot of fancy bells and whistles, but it’s very nice and cozy. Cherie was a great host, and she even brought us coffee our first morning because we didn’t have any.

    Chris2018-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Upon arrival, there was a power outage from a tree limb damaging a power line from excessive winds. Cherie was super helpful in providing lanterns, making sure the house was warm, amongst other accommodations. She was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay.

    Kenneth2018-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our little family of three had a great stay at Cherie's place. She was very prompt and helpful. The house is super clean and comfortable. It's a bit off the beaten path which was nice for us. The drive was beautiful and it's a short trip to a lot interesting spots as well as great food and beer. Cherie recommended A Touch of Class Bakery and Cafe for breakfast in Central Lake. It was fantastic!

  • My husband and I stayed at Cherie's "Guest House" for 3 nights in Feb 2018. Cherie is a wonderful, conscientious hostess! Her "Guest House" is very comfortable with all the amenities of home! The kitchen is well-stocked with everything you need to prepare meals at "home", the bed was very comfortable, and the whole house was sparkling clean! It's in a very quiet neighborhood, across the street from a beautiful lake(6 Mile Lake), and a park within walking distance! It was the perfect stay for visiting family in East Jordan!

  • Such a fun, sweet space to use as a getaway weekend for my husband and I. Very quiet and serene area. The inn had everything and more than we needed! Renee even had a bottle of coffee creamer in the fridge that I was so thrilled to see as I can’t drink my coffee black :) the bed was so comfy and we were spoiled the whole weekend. Would definitely recommend to anyone!

Apple Orchard sits on 5 acres of very private land on East Torch Lake Drive. It is in a rustic setting with very natural landscaping. There is no water frontage to Torch, but it is very close by. It has a lovely covered deck area and a huge new firepit area. It is a cottage, and has its imperfections, but comfortable to spend a peaceful weekend! The master bedroom is huge!
  • Great location to Torch Lake. Location of cottage was centrally located to various attractions we were interested in visiting for a long weekend. As stated in the listing, this is a rustic cottage.

  • The location of this house is awesome and the price is unbeatable! Kara was super communicative and left us drinks in the fridge which was really sweet. The place is definitely rustic, but we had an awesome time.

  • This was my first Airbnb experience, and wow did Kim and Floyd set the bar high for the next one. Their hospitality is unparalleled, and their space is absolutely adorable and perfect for a nice getaway with your significant other. It was very welcoming and cozy, and Kim added nice touches, like little chocolates on each pillow, a bowl of blueberries, and some cookies to greet us. She was timely on responses, and provided lists of activities and places to visit in the area. The bed was quite honestly one of the most comfortable I have slept in my whole life. The sheets were incredible, and she even provided two types of pillows for guest preference: firm or soft. Overall, an extraordinary experience. I would highly recommend Kim and her cozy guest house. You will not be disappointed.

    Lauren2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect location if visiting the Torch Lake/Eastport area of Michigan. Easy access to the lakes and towns, but also great if you just want the solitude and stay at the property. It is on a bluff that overlooks Torch Lake and Lake Michigan in the distance. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating.

    Christine2018-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Kim's place is amazing. The views and the setting are unmatched. It was a wonderful get away weekend and we can't wait to go back.

    Keri2018-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • If you want to be near a lot of beautiful nature but yet not to far away from things to do, this is the place. Eat dinner at Shorts Brewery in Bellaire, go to Charlevoix for a day, multiple places to enjoy the beach, all right near by. Kim was great, the place was exactly what she said it would be and exactly what we needed. We would definitely come again.

    Tom2018-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Kim did a wonderful job welcoming us to her guesthouse. She was an attentive hostess and her home was so neat! Due to a health issue I was not able to stay, but I would recommend her air b&b!

    Ashley2018-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Shadynook is one of those places that offer lazy afternoons reading, lounging or just a place to hang your hat. Go down 88 or 31 to find great restaurants, beaches, shopping, and wonderful views of Michigan. Traverse is not far, our trip up to Mission Point was a highlight. Petoskey adventure filled up a full day, not to mention Charlevoix...don't need to tell you anything about that city, just go there! We enjoyed Bonita and her parents. (Bonita is their sweet parrot)

    Sandra2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Kim was an outstanding host. Moments upon arriving we felt like long-lost friends. Her hospitality is abundant and detail oriented. She took the time to greet us, and give us tips for exploring the area, and placed little chocolates on our pillows just like a 5-star hotel. We shared her affinity for fresh, beautiful linens and a warmly decorated home among the fresh country air. Both Kim and her husband Floyd were warm, funny, and down-to-earth. Their home is adorable, clean, and unique. I highly recommend trying Kim's home if you're visiting Michigan's upper peninsula. It was everything we could have hoped for and more.

    Jessica2018-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Kim and Floyd were gracious guests, and they have a beautiful home in the country! We enjoyed staying in their guest house, which was cozy and clean. We had our own entrance and the privacy of a side yard where we enjoyed an amazing view of nearby Torch Lake and the Grand Traverse Bay area every morning with our coffee, sometimes with a family of deer! This place had everything we needed and more. Kim and Floyd went above and beyond and even added some adorable personal touches for our anniversary. The location is great if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle, but close to plenty of things to do. We took day trips to Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes (45 min-1hr drive), Bellaire and Short's Brewing (20 min drive), and the absolutely charming downtown Charlevoix (20 min drive). We also took an entire day to just relax on Torch Lake and go cherry picking at King Orchards, both just a short drive down the road. We could not have been happier with our stay and would highly recommend this place as a perfect getaway for couples.

Sit at the window seat and look out at the peaceful woods. A perfect setting to enjoy yourself after a day of golf, skiing or visiting the local breweries in the area. We are an hour drive from Traverse City and thirty minutes from Charlevoix. Even though we are on beautiful Intermediate Lake our home is not set up as a resort. You may sit on our deck or enjoy the lake from our dock, but swimming or boat launching is not permitted.
The home is located on beautiful Intermediate Lake. This is a quiet lake with loons and other wildlife. Sit on the deck and watch the birds at the feeders.
This is a quiet area with walking trails right across the street.
  • I couldn't have wished for a better 1st airbnb experience! Welcoming hosts, beautiful and clean property right on the lake! The bed was so comfy, the private bathroom was so lovely, and I felt comfortable with the amount of privacy I was given. Thank you for allowing me to stay!

    Nancy2015-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful, private location. Easy to find, easy to park. Very friendly hosts made us feel welcome from the very start. Great communication. Clean, comfortable, large room. Plenty of bedding. Bathroom is large - nice after a few days in a small cabin.

  • Karen and Mark were amazing hosts. They were very accommodating, flexible, and generous with the use of their home. The place was virtually spotless and the view from the patio was beautiful. The breakfast Karen cooked us on the last day was a delicious treat and we really enjoyed just spending time talking to them. We would definitely stay again!

    Jasmine2015-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Karen is absolutely wonderful. Her home is right on the water, as the pictures show, and it is a peaceful and beautiful location. We were only stopping through town for one night, but we wish we could've stayed! It felt more like a true b&b. We would definitely recommend Karen to anyone.

    Ken2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • My daughter and I were headed north and needed a stopping point. All the hotels were full in the entire area, and with such short notice, we were fortunate that Karen had a cancellation for that night. The location is very secluded, as mentioned. Peaceful Lake Living it is. Wonderful room with bathroom outside the door. Lovely deck, dock, and view. Welcoming and homey, exactly what was desired. Cinnamon rolls, coffee for me, and juice for my daughter sent us on our way in the morning. LOVED it and look forward to seeing them again.

    Marlene2015-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Karen’s place was the perfect location for our Torch Lake bike ride and visiting Charlevoix, Petoskey and Traverse City! Place was very clean and just what we needed for a weekend get away!

    Kinsey2018-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely, I will stay again if I have a chance to visit here again. Hosts are really warm people. The house is really clean and has a wonderful lake view. No more word is needed. Stay at this place whenever you have a chance to visit Northern Michigan.

    Dongkeun2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Karen and Mark were exceptional hosts and some of the nicest people we met on our tour of Michigan! As Michigan natives, they answered all of our questions and shared so many stories about the region and the lakes. Their home is breathtakingly stunning and a must see if you are considering staying nearby. We were able to easily get to Traverse City, the Sleeping Bear Dunes, and Torch Lake from their home. If you are looking for incredible views, a peaceful stay, and two of delightful hosts, stay at this airbnb!

Peaceful, scenic and classic north woods setting in a rural area surrounded by charming villages on the Chain-of-Lakes.
  • The Fieldguide Farmhouse is a truly exceptional and special place. We had a perfect stay and we felt right at home from the minute we walked in the door. The rooms were decorated with a perfect mixture of cool, classic, and cozy vibes. Each room came with cozy blankets, fluffy pillows, and plush towels. It was so inviting and perfect. The house's character has been beautifully preserved and maintained. The stone exterior with the large front porch created the perfect setting to enjoy the wide views of Intermediate Lake. The large porch swing overlooking the lake was my favorite spot for my morning coffee. The host, Lee, thought of everything to make sure our stay was comfortable, relaxing, and fun. The location of the farmhouse was perfect for a variety of activities that were just minutes from the cabin. Lee's knowledge of the immediate and surrounding trails, lakes, and towns helped create a perfect vacation. The Fieldguide Farmhouse is a true gem and I already can't wait to go back. Thank you Lee for such a wonderful stay!

  • Fuildguide Farmhouse was the perfect destination for our wedding night and weekend. Lee was a beyond amazing host and we were even able to bring our pups! We would more than recommend the farmhouse for any event and we’d love to stay again!

  • Lee greeted us with a smile that never faded the remainder of our stay. She has created a gorgeous, relaxing atmosphere in her home. She went above and beyond by providing us with goodies to help us ring in the new year. If you're considering staying in the area, this is the place to go!

    Jessica2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • I don't even know where to start - there are so many positive things to say! Lee is an absolute gem. She is an exceptional host who makes everyone who visits feel like family. This was our first stay at Fieldguide Farmhouse and I cannot wait to go back. The entire house is impeccable decorated and is SO cozy. We spent our first night dining on the front porch, which overlooks Central Lake, and then cozied up to the fire with a bottle of wine (that Lee gave to us in our room!). The next day, Lee provided breakfast bars, toast and cereal and we hung out on the porch and in our rooms (which are SO spacious and comfortable) until we had to leave for a wedding. If you're looking for a home away from home in Northern Michigan, look no further. This place was wonderful.

    Meaghan2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • The Fieldguide Farmhouse is a gem! We enjoyed a most comfortable bed in the main room of the Baxter Suite. The decorations and historic touches around the home provide for a lot of casual relaxing (lots of area info and nature-books), and we spent time on both the front porch and side deck. Communication was thorough, prompt and friendly. Although Lee was away during our stay, she made it easy to manage the logistics and also socialize briefly with the other guests in her absence. While the price is a little steep, you can tell she's taken every last detail into account and it's a great place to enjoy a get-away near nature as well as local flavor in a variety of towns nearby.

    April2018-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This place is still transitioning to a yoga retreat center, but the fresh paint and lemon grass candle can't cover up that it is still very much a cheap motel. Be prepared to bring everything and receive little for the $180 price tag other than some yoga classes from the gruff owner. (I didn't make it to the second night so I'm not sure if the yoga classes would have made up for the multitude of negatives)

    Mariah2018-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • The house is isolated so you guys can feel like you have your own space. No one interrupted your journey, and it was a beautiful trip! It would be way better if they’ve wifi, but come on, you guys should not use wifi when you guys have a lovely friends and family to spend a time with. You could also control the temperature, so it was amazing place to stay. One thing that you guys have to remember is that you have to throw away all the garbages to bin which is kind of far from house and it is very steep. Other than that, I enjoyed my trip

    Brian2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Brian and Connie were very responsive and helpful hosts! The house is super spacious and easily accommodated our group of 5 adults and 2 toddlers. The home style is a bit dated and there is no wifi. Still, there is a large deck with a firepit below it that are great places to relax and look out over picturesque Torch Lake.

    Collin2018-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place and location (Specially the porch and its breathtaking views). Connie and Brian were great hosts and their response time was very timely. Although there were few minor issues which we didn't like it like but they could easily be corrected like. (After all reviews are to make place even better) 1. One of the main issue we had was the early checkout time. It was 9 AM which was hard specially when you are on vacation and with kids. I was hoping at least 11 AM so guests will have little time. We literally had to rush. 2. One of the bathroom (living room) faucet is not working. 3. We were told they have a charcoal grill, we bought the essentials for charcoal grill but then it turned out to be a gas grill. 4. Grill was not clean (very messy). 5. Outdoor lights near the grill nor the campfire pit were not working when we first got there (They fixed it very quickly after we reached out to hosts) We definitely enjoyed our stay and everyone in the family had great time and would certainly recommend other for this beautiful home. Thank you Connie and Brian.

  • Simple, cute motel room that is part of. Yoga center on a 2 lane highway adjacent to downtown Central Lake, MI. Looks like an appropriately low-budget facelift was done recently making the rooms comfortable and colorful. Small but adequate bathroom. No TV, which was nice. The carpet needed cleaning. Otherwise, they seem to take pride in the place. Oh, and we met Scout the resident black lab. He is a Very cute and social host. The human host, Ciara, communicated well though we never met her.

  • This is a simple quiet space. Comfortable bed, clean shower, warm water. We chose it for the yoga class...well worth it! Ciarra was great. Morning coffee is a short drive away at the EZ mart. They give a discount if you have your own cup!

A charming 1910 foursquare fieldstone farmhouse southwest facing a top a hill with 6.25 landscaped private acres overlooking Intermediate Lake in a private, picturesque countryside setting. Centrally located along the Chain of Lakes, Intermediate Lake is an all sports lake. Historic charm, hardwood floors throughout, 9' ceilings and large-pane windows. Any questions? Please ask!
Traditional B&B accommodations as this house is my home and so myself and my friendly dog, Louie, reside onsite to accommodate guests while providing plenty of privacy. Guest suites and additional bedrooms are all located on the second floor and host quarters are in the basement. Shared main level includes eat-in kitchen, living, dining, powder room, front porch, side patio, 6.25 acre lawn and groves, fire pit and a secure 2.5-car garage for parking and storing recreational equipment. Gorgeous sunsets, star gazing and access to outdoor recreation. A chain link fence dog kennel with an igloo doghouse and food and water bowl is optional and available for dogs.
Peaceful, picturesque and scenic. A private 'country estate' setting along the chain of lakes surrounded by rolling hardwood forests. A quintessential Up North setting.
  • The farm house was beautiful!!! Lee takes excellent care of the home, so it was well stocked, clean, and had many amenities. Lee was so great with communicating before, during and even after our stay! I would highly highly recommend this rental!

  • The house have a lot of space and confortables beds. All the areas of the house are great for groups of people.

  • Gracious and unique, with comfortable accomodations, wonderful views and plenty of space to enjoy time alone or with others. We loved the styling of the home, and the layout allowed for easy living. It was a superb weekend that turned a girls get-away that included a dog and baby into an elevated experience. It will be hard to top these accommodations!

    Carrie2018-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lee's place is gorgeous and so well decorated. It's clean, quiet and just generally an awesome place to hang out with family. It's definitely not in a central location, but there's lots of places to go explore, and a trip to Charlevoix was only a 30 min drive (and worth it). There is no lake access, so be prepared to drive to actually get in the lake, but again, it's beautiful and serene and just generally a wonderful place to spend time.

    Priscilla2018-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had an awesome weekend at the Fieldhouse! A great, old place with lovely decks/porches for evening dinners and drinks and great conversation! A quick drive to Torch Lake for boat rentals is a must!

    Kelly2018-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible home - exceptionally clean, very well appointed, an excellent value for the price. The atmosphere is welcoming, the grounds/view beautiful. Hikes/Mt biking close, road riding out the front door. This would be a great place to gather for a weekend of anything and there's plenty to do in the area. Highly recommend this home!

  • Lee went out of her way to communicate with us and answer questions before we arrived. She opened her home to us and our dog Lucky. When we arrived the garage was open to park the car after we unloaded. The fire was going and she quickly made us feel right at home with fresh cookies waiting! Snacks and drinks were part of a nice welcome after we were settled. We traded breakfast for Happy Hour because we were headed out early the next morning. We asked questions about the history of the farm house and enjoyed sharing time with Lee and her son. The town of Central Lake is just up the road about three miles and they had a few restaurants to chose from for dinner. Lee invited us to enjoy the whole house and made us feel comfortable. When we returned from dinner we played games and Lee joined us! We were cosy with the fire, the dogs and another glass of wine. We were out the door the next morning and headed to Boyne Mountain for the day to snowboard. The country side was beautiful and the drive was about 36 minutes. Shanty Creek/Shuss Mountain is closer - about 15 minutes. Lee allowed our dog to stay at the house for the day and he was treated like a king. Her dog Louie kept him company and was such a sweet friend. The rooms are spacious and the house is beautiful. Lee has all the right touches! The property is about 6 acres and sits across the road from the lake. The view from the the front of the house is stunning! We had coffee waiting for us each morning and relaxed in the living room while the teens got their extra sleep the last day. Lee was very accomodating and went out of her way to make this a stellar experience. We will definitely be back and pray she will continue to enjoy hosting at her BnB. We came strangers and leave as great friends.

  • Lee's place is a beautiful piece of history in northern Michigan. It is an awesome house with amazing views. We had a great time and I would recommend to my friends. She was very helpful and responsive throughout our stay.

  • This was a great place to stay in one of the cutest small towns. it is a short walk to the lake, a grocery, and local shops. We loved our stay.

    Katharine2018-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a lovely place in a historical building. Very quiet on the 2nd floor and there are two restaurants downstairs. Walkable to the lake. Love the small town feel.

  • Private room with bath in a vintage hotel type setting, 7 rooms upstairs and dining and bar downstairs.

  • Clean and comfortable! Love having the amazing food and bar just downstairs

    Josh2018-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Blue Pelican is in a great location for a visit to Central Lake. Right on Main Street so walking to anything you’d need. Local grocery, couple restaurants, and even a tasting room for a local distillery (highly suggest this!). Sound does carry between rooms so would maybe suggest some ear plugs but beds were comfy and rooms had the basics you need. Also, great on-site restaurant and bar with gorgeous outdoor area!

    Alivia2018-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely and quaint inn! Our room was nice and clean and we appreciated the snacks in the kitchenette. Check-in was easy. We arrived after staff had left for the day but Christopher and Merrie made it easy and clear how we could access the building and the room. The location was great between all the lakes in the area. We drove 10 minutes to Bellaire one day for kayaking and Short’s Brewery and it was only a 25 minute drive out to Torch lake. We ate the restaurant downstairs and it was delicious (lucky we came in Hawaiian night)! We saw no ghosts though but hoping to stay again and get another opportunity!

  • Clean, no-frills inn in a sweet sleepy northern Michigan town. Rooms are above a restaurant and bar but it is not a late night scene so no worries about noise.

  • This place was SO charming. The Inn was real close to the lake and the room was large and overall beautiful. However there are no televisions in the rooms so if you go be prepared to watch the one in the common space.

  • The blue room is a lovely, spacious room. The bed is comfortable and the room was immaculate. Wi-fi was a plus too. A free continental breakfast is a nice perk too. We only needed a place to sleep and this was perfect. We didn't get to try the restaurant but, we've been told it is very good. We would stay here again.

  • Pass up this place. It is not a bed and breakfast. In the middle of nowhere. Long distance to Travese City. You can’t call a brown banana and a vending pastry a breakfast. Coffee not available unless you make it yourself. Rooms very small. Shower smaller. No TV in room. No central air. Noisy window air conditioner. No attendant on duty in evening. No one to contact. Keypad entry only. Find another place to stay closer to Traverse City.

  • It didn't have much of a "retreat" feel, but it was a convenient place to sleep while exploring the surrounding area. Ciara was accommodating and responsive to my questions and concerns. PROs: location, A/C, value for money CONs: minimal/no amenities, very thin walls, roadside motel feel, dog barked a lot when hosts were out

  • Pat & Michael did everything they could to make sure our stay was a pleasant one. They even left us some Amish made baked goods which were delicious. Would definitely recommend a stay in their little cabin!

    Brittney2018-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Pat is a wonderful host. She is very attentive and goes out of her way to make sure you have what you need. She left us a very yummy treat upon checkin from a local baker. The location is about 25 minutes from downtown Charlevoix and the lake access was a nice option. The beds were a bit hard and the appliances are out dated but everything else was spot on.

    Caryn2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Pat was the perfect host, answering every question we had prior to our stay. She met us at the house and showed us around the home and property. The home was quite simple but met most of our expectations. The only thing I would recommend is at least one queen bed in one of the bedrooms. My wife and I had trouble sleeping together in a double bed. The chain of lakes is gorgeous! Fishing was by far the best on Benway Lake as we managed to catch dinner one day! We will definitely be coming back next summer!

    Adam2017-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Booked Pat's place last minute with my wife and 1.5yr old. We enjoyed our stay and it was perfect for a weekend getaway. The place was clean and had plenty of room for the toddler to run around. Pat was very helpful in answering our questions. We would definitely book again.

    Eric2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Four friends stayed at Pat's cottage for 2 nights while in town for the Charlevoix marathon. It was easy to find and perfect for a group--we each had our own room (one person slept on the couch). The kitchen had everything we needed and the bathroom was stocked with towels. We enjoyed the front porch in the evening after our race. A few things to note: there is only AC in the living room, but we found it to be very comfortable inside with the windows open; it's a 400 meter downhill walk to the lake; there's a sandy public beach about a mile down the road; the wifi is fast. It was wonderfully peaceful inside and out! We would happily stay at Pat's again next year if we run this race.

    Julie2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Pat was an amazing host! Very easy to communicate with up to our arrival. The cottage was just what we needed and comfortably slept 6 adults. We have already talked about coming back.

    Cody2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay here! The place was clean and had everything we needed. Pat was amazing and really accommodating, along with being so friendly and very thoughtful. We couldn't recommend this little cottage any more- great place!

Janet was really quick at responding and helped me get my first booking on airbnb. She was very responsive to our itinerary/travel plans and although we never met in person, she was very friendly over the phone. The cabin was great with a lot of comfortable seating, flat screen tv (cable was limited), ps3 with games and movies. The two rooms were small, but very comfortable. FYI, there were no outlets in the bedrooms. Janet also provided some extra toiletries in case we didn't have them. We only spent a couple hours in the cabin to sleep in for one night, but it was a good night's sleep.
