Bastille, home to the famous July column (marking the end of the 1830 Revolution), is a vibrant area in central Paris with many shops, cafés, restaurants and bars, great transport links, a market, cinema, opera house and more! The Arsenal port leading to the Seine offers a relaxing place to escape from the hustle and bustle by strolling or sitting besides the boats. The "Coulée Verte" starting on Avenue Daumesnil is a unique garden planted along the length of an old railway viaduct (Viaduc des Arts), offering a pleasant stroll as far as the Bois de Vincennes (5km from Bastille).
