Samosas are a local cuisine which consists of a filling in a triangle shaped pastry crust. They are the perfect little snack when you are walking around the city and Mariam's is practically an institution with Cape Town locals. For us, this is a key part of your cultural Cape Town experience.

Cape Malay fast food - the Masala Steak Gatsby is on point. Go hungry! (Gatsbies are a Cape Malay tradition and consist of a large loaf of bread stuffed with curried meat, french fries, salads and sauces. Typically very affordable and shared between 3-4 people.)

If you want real Cape Town, head down the road for a quick bit of a traditional Cape fare. You cannot stay in this area without trying their gatsby, salomie/roti and samoosas!
