This is a great sandy beach with interesting cliff top and beach walks . There is inexpensive parking and public toilets. This is sand castle central.

This is a personal favourite of mine and is a slightly longer walk. Give yourself around 3 hours (or 6 hours if you're feeling adventurous and do the return walk). Start from the Kippford village, head along the scenic coast path towards Rockcliffe. From there, you want to head up towards Castle Point where you can stop and admire the stunning views over the Solway Coast. On a clear day, you can see over to the Lake District and catch some incredible mountainous views! Continue along the coastal cliffs, where you can stop off at several hidden bays and beaches for a picnic or dip in the sea. The trail is well sign posted and briefly meets a road around halfway. Follow the road round, back towards the coastline and up on to the trail path again. You will eventually come out at Sandyhills Beach where you can indulge in a well deserved ice cream or swim in the dip (if you're lucky to catch a sunny day). From here you can either take the same route back, or simply jump on a bus from the roadside which will take you a short 10 minute trip back to the entrance of the caravan park.

Sandyhills is a large sandy beach located along the southern coastline of Dumfries and Galloway. The beach slopes gently so the water is shallow and it is a popular beach for paddling and exploring rock pools.

Another great beach. Toilets and a shop/cafe. Unless you are lucky enough to get a free space, car parking is £4.50
