President Johnson called this his Texas White House and it is a wonderful place to visit and tour his family home and see behind the scenes what went on with the Secret Service and other departments in order to make this ranch a political H. Q. for America. Across Texas Park 1 is the Texas State Park and it has its own visitor center. One of the odd things about this stop is that depending on what side of the river you visit (and do both) it is either a state or federal property. Visit both sides and tour the childhood home and the one room school house where Johnson signed educational bills into law.

Not only is it a really cool historic place & step back in time, it is also on a road less traveled and you can meander around Stonewall, my favorite little town. While there, you can check out the LBJ National park, pack a picnic lunch and cool off by the river at the picnic tables down the road, and walk over to my next favorite place
Get your free tickets at the LBJ State Park and drive through LBJ Ranch, see Air Force 1/2, and learn history about our local boy who grew up to become President.
