Among the unusual things to do in Bergamo Alta, remember to go in search of the mysterious Doors of the Dead. Walking along Via della Rocca you will come across houses where next to the entrance door there is another narrower and now walled door. They are called "the Doors of the Dead" as it is said that in the Middle Ages the coffins were brought out from these doors and then once the body passed through them they were bricked up.
