The castle is closed to the public, and private tours are usually £50. However, as guests at Barns, you are welcome to arrange a tour for £30 during your stay, and if you are here for a week or more, the tour is complimentary.

Interesting castle - original 'keep' high up on the banks of the River Tweed just west of Peebles- damaged by Cromwell's canon balls. Not often open to the public but it is easy to walk around it's exterior and to admire it's amazing construction.

Walk off visits to restaurants and cafes in Peebles with a loop along the Tweed and back over the Neidpath viaduct, along the south bank of the river. The route isn't ideal for cycling as there are quite a few steps on both sides of the river.
