This is a local's haunt throughout the year, with excellent walks and safe swimming and barbecues, where you can light a fire and stay for as along as you like. (20 minute drive) Dog friendly all year round. Park at the National Trust carpark and walk down through the woods across the road and left down a slope to the beach. Check for tides it is best at mid to low tide.

Set at the foot of the valley containing the sub-tropical gardens of Glendurgan is the tiny village of Durgan. Consisting of a clutch of cottages (mostly owned by the National Trust) Durgan overlooks the Helford river with stunning vistas in all directions. The beach at Durgan is a pleasant mix of grey sand and shingle with plenty of rocks and rockpools at either end to keep everyone occupied. Whilst swimming is fairly safe in this sheltered location one should be aware there is no lifeguard service. Durgan has a strong boating tradition and there is a slipway running down the beach along with moorings just offshore. It is also home to the annual Durgan Regatta on the last Sunday in August.
